The story
He welded a race track in his family's garden because there was nowhere else to fly.
It started as an eighth-grade school project. Paweł Laszczak wanted to build a drone, so he taught himself to solder and flash firmware from guides on the internet. Then he taught himself to weld, and built a race track in the garden.
He was racing within a year. By 2018, aged fifteen, he had won his first international race and taken his first FAI World Cup medal. Three more followed — 2019, 2021 and 2023 — three silver and one bronze across four seasons.
At home he has been champion of Poland three times, in 2019, 2022 and 2023. In 2022 he took silver for Poland at The World Games in Birmingham, and in 2023 became the first Polish pilot ever to race the Drone Racing League — a fourteen-race season flown inside American stadiums.
In October 2024 he won the MultiGP Championship, the title of the largest drone racing league in the world. It was the first final in the league's history without a single American pilot in the top four.
